2017 Chicago Northwest Spring Gathering
Let the Children Come to Me
Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.” — Matthew 19:14
On April 22, Sherman UMC hosts the United Methodist Women’s 2017 Chicago Northwest Spring Gathering. We welcome Rev. Dr. Nancy C. Grim Hunter as our key speaker. Rev. Dr. Hunter is a Deacon in the United Methodist Church called to Word, Service, Compassion, and Justice. She serves her appointment as a tenured professor in the College of Education and Dean of Assessment in the College of Pharmacy at Chicago State University. She also serves on the campus ministry team. She calls St. John’s UMC of Oak Park her local church home.
Rev. Grim Hunter lives out her Deacon’s call through education and advocacy for at-risk and under-served children and adults. Pastor Nancy was recently appointed as Chair of the Children’s Ministry of the Northern Illinois Conference. She has served two years as Chair of the NIC UMC Children’s Table initiative.
Sherman UMW has a long history of service in the Chicago Northshore community, and is currently led by Pres. Cheryl Kendrick. Mildred Carter serves as registrar for this event.
Registration check in begins at 8am April 22, and the program concludes at noon. Registration is $5 per adult. You may register on site.
