United Methodist Women Opposes U.S. Withdrawal from Paris Climate Accord.
This statement is issued in keeping with UMW’s strategic priority advocacy issue and goal on climate justice.

Our own Mildred Carter represented the North Central Jurisdiction, NIC as a member of the Program Advisory Group (PAG) at a conference held at the Scarritt Bennett Center in Nashville, Tennessee March 2-4.
- Priority issues were: mass incarceration, climate justice and maternity and child health. She heard discussions on UMW’s historical work for racial justice, the school to prison pipeline, criminalization of dissent and immigrants and of the Muslim communities.
- The UMW National Assembly Meeting will be held in Columbus, Ohio, May 18-20th, 2018. This Assembly marks the official celebration of our 150th anniversary and a return to the location of the first Assembly in 1942. The Power of Bold is the theme and will focus on revisiting the journey of Mary, who answered “yes” to God’s call to service. Early registration begins September 1 and ends November 30, 2017 $295.00. After that registration is $330.00 that includes lunch.

Our primary women’s group is the United Methodist Women’s group at SUMC, but our women’s ministry does not stop there.
